I have been thinking a lot about my own self-identity these days. Not what other people perceive me as, because how can I possibly know. But how I perceive myself, and the limitations that can put on me.

I am not good with money.
I don’t finish things.
I am too competitive.

…and on and on.

These frames I put on myself shape how I show up, consciously or unconsciously. And so I’m working on figuring out the self-identity that I WANT to have, rather than letting the defaults control the way I show up.

Now, there’s a fine line here. I don’t want to FAKE my life, either. I want to be authentic, and to tap into more of my instincts and natural tendencies… but not on default, autopilot mode. And perhaps the mere self-awareness to recognize that these two things aren’t really synonymous with each other in the first place is the key.

What’s the point of this content, Erica? Be real here. I challenged myself to better define the self-identity I want to take on as I move into the final stretch of this year-long pursuit of an impossible revenue goal and I came up with these:

Confident & Decisive
Brings the joy and energy to every room
Brings out and expects the best in others
Has clear expectations and communicates them effectively
Knows her biz metric and uses them to make decisions
Is proactive in addressing problems
Has clear boundaries and sets in place the tools and people to help stick to them
Holds family time sacred
Gives herself credit, too
Brings together people… I’m a rallyer
Plays! Makes things fun
Takes risks and is not afraid to fail
Is self-aware
Taps into the Future Millionerica for wisdom
Pays attention to people. Seeks and creates meaningful connections with others
Sets BIG goals and goes for them with enthusiasm because she truly believes the power, the juice, the magic comes in the journey, the process, and not in the achievement.

If I take on that Millionerica Identity more frequently, until that becomes the default, how much can I achieve in 7 months? In 7 years?! I just celebrated the 7 year Business Birthday of being my own boss and I gotta tell ya… I am feeling on fire right now about what the future holds.
